Great article Stephen, I received a similar email from one of my merchants a few weeks ago who went one step further. They are running a competition between all their inactive affiliates and the one that makes the most sales over the next two months wins a prize.

That's the perfect approach to get me to take another look at any program. Well done Buy.at, other merchants take note.

Totally agree Chris,

I'm always disappointed how some brands seem to see their inactive affiliates as a liability and happily push them away to their competitors.

Good on M&S and their agency for looking at the long tail and seeing an opportunity, not a burden.

I'm sure their top guys need plenty of support at this time of year so all the better for doing it now rather than May-August when retail is quieter.
