Thats a really good email from a Merchant. Too many times I have received an email saying “you done nuffin, so see ya!”, mainly from TD network… you know, the one with NOREPLY@… as the email address.

Personally, I think “sod ya” and when I do finally get round to pushing a merchant in the same verticle, choose a different one on a different network.

Its magic to see M&S taking a different stance to dormant affiliates. Well done them!

Totally agree Chris,

I’m always disappointed how some brands seem to see their inactive affiliates as a liability and happily push them away to their competitors.

Good on M&S and their agency for looking at the long tail and seeing an opportunity, not a burden.

I’m sure their top guys need plenty of support at this time of year so all the better for doing it now rather than May-August when retail is quieter.

That’s the perfect approach to get me to take another look at any program. Well done Buy.at, other merchants take note.

Great article Stephen, I received a similar email from one of my merchants a few weeks ago who went one step further. They are running a competition between all their inactive affiliates and the one that makes the most sales over the next two months wins a prize.
