While I was waiting for the rest of Miami to wake up last month, one great way I found to make use of the early jetlagged hours was to watch the commercials on US TV.
They really are something special. There’s just something so unbashful about the American psyche that really gets me hyped up whenever I’m over there, but seems just a bit cheesy when you get back home again.
This one stuck in my mind though, as it looks like one of the ebook packages you see touted on Clickbank with mile-long sales pages . I still have no real idea what the product is about, but the ads must have worked as I can remember the URL after just 2 viewings, thankfully someone has put a version on Youtube for your viewing pleasure.
Now to get the full effect you have to see the ad twice, and spot the 2 different URL’s, seemingly used to track the different ad slots they are shown in. Either that or there’s some hard-core 2nd tier marketing going on!
US TV slots in the early hours of the morning are really cheap and production costs are falling, radio is much the same and I’ve heard a few hints about affiliates testing the media over here.
Interesting that a technique I would have dismisssed out of hand actually works well enough for me to remember BOTH urls weeks later.
